When we meet we bring the King of Kings with us and the full representation of the God head, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. When we gather in His name He is in our midst. Gathering in His name means we come with the sacrifice of praise, (worship) to do good, (works) and to share our faith, (build one another up, encouragement, exhortation, edify the whole man). Gathering in His name invokes the presence of God to manifest. We gather in that name when we are surrendered to Him in every way and minister first to His heart.
Hebrews 13:14-16 (New International Version)
For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Many of us have been doing church without God for a long time; in fact it’s quite easy to do that. We structure a bulletin, pick out some songs, do some announcements, and have a benediction, doxology a 20 minute sermon and so forth, all quite orderly and very efficient. We market the gospel with great efficiency, seeker sensitive, doctrine driven, program oriented and all of those things which we can do without Him.
He can also be found in the very things mentioned above in an hour, a minute, on the patio having coffee if we are yielded to Him and gather in His name with hearts full of Him through His Spirit and presence. Without Holy Spirit you don’t have God.
These meetings that we are having last a long time (5 to 6 hours) and usually they are on Fridays at the end of the week where people are tired and weary from their week. They are not seeker sensitive or market driven. People come to these meetings that are thirsty and hungry for God. It cost something of you to come. You choose against fatigue, apathy, indifference and unbelief. You choose to step into your new nature which is in Christ.
We are being built up into His sons and daughters as we willingly choose to seek Him and pursue Him with diligence. We find Him in the worship, in the word, in one another, encounters with Him through a word of prophecy, healing, or His goodness overcoming us in His presence. We learn to share our faith, move in His gifts, build each other up; we prepare and learn to be His disciples. To stand in the times we live in we must allow Holy Spirit to train us up in the way we should go. Disciples and warriors prepare and know how to stand in the days of trouble and also how to carry the blessings of God. This can’t be learned in a consumption church driven model where we learn how to receive but not to give and move and have our being in Christ.
It cost a great deal to come on Friday. King David would not give anything to God that did not cost Him. These meetings are prepared that you might be the living sacrifice and know the joy of giving and being in Christ. You were born for this day and time to excel in Him.
